July 12, 2009 - early summer update

The summer is proving to be a busy one! As usual, I've been playing lots of casuals with Entourage. Most of them have been in LA and OC with the exception of a crazy 48 hr trip to New Jersey for a wedding! None other than Joe Piscipo was in attendance, and asked to sit in on a couple of tunes. I obliged and loaned him my guitar. There was a private fireworks show near the band tent-we couldn't resist going near it to check it out...during the show some stray fireworks went off towards us and everyone dove out of the way! Unfortunately our trombonist, Kerry, was hit and suffered a ruined suit and some red marks on his neck... Tis the time to record Christmas records-yes, in July. I was hired to produce and play on James Clearwater's upcoming Christmas release. It's been a real pleasure to work with a laid back guy like James on a fun record like this. Also, I was able to go to Seattle and work in my favorite studio (Elliott Bay Recording) and play with some great musicians as well. I'm currently finishing the tracking at home, then going back up to Seattle on the 21st to mix it. Last Friday I also had the pleasure to play some country music with Coldwater Canyon. These guys have a great band and great country songs! We played for a packed crowd at the Cowboy Palace saloon in Chatsworth. You may have heard their song "Country Girlz" on CMT. I'm going to try to make more regular updates so check back! Cheers, Chad

April 15, 2009 - Nick Deonigi TV Placement

One of the tunes on Nick's debut CD "Miles and Minutes", that we worked on together will be heard in the upcoming episode of "In The Motherhood". The show will air this Thursday, 4/18 at 8pm on ABC. The song, "Good For Something" is one of the mellower selections on the CD and features accordian and mandolin in the arrangement. Nick and I finished the record in 2007. Ironically, another track that made it on this episode is from Jimmy Frank's "It's Only Right" CD recorded back in the early 90s. Jimmy is a good friend of mine and had me play on the record. He currently runs a great music club in Palm Springs called Club Trinidad.

January 23, 2009 - "Tell Me Who I Am" on Sanjaya's EP

A song that I co-wrote, "Tell Me Who I Am" is on Sanjaya's EP "Dancing To The Music In My Head" and available exclusively on Amazon.com as a digital download. Check it out! It's currently available as a free download. And no, I didn't produce it...if you hear it you'll understand why I say that ;)

July 22, 2008 - Mainstream Source

I’ve recently joined forces with Mainstream Source (www.Mainstreamsource.com). They are a great new company dedicated to source music for a variety of applications. They have Pro Tools HD facilities in LA and San Diego that I’ll be working in to help beef up their already well rounded catalog. I'll be working with my good buddy and talented drummer, Andy Fraga Jr. on some collaborations.

May 22, 2008 - Moved to the beach!

I moved again for the second time in 8 months! It was worth the extra hassle as I now know that the only place to live in LA is by the beach! Playa Del Rey is a great little beach town here in the shadow of LAX. Now during recording projects we can go down to the beach on a break or to unwind. It certainly doesn’t feel like you’re in the city, but you’re just minutes away.

February 01, 2008 - new shows added

Starting to get busy down here in LA! I've been fortunate enough to hook up with some great players and singers who are also very nice people. I spent a good portion of January learning new songs. Bands down here keep very up to date with their repertoire and mix in a healthy dose of new material with the older retro stuff. I'm testing myself to see how much material I can cram into my brain in a short period of time! Especially for a gig like Disneyland where you can't have charts onstage.

December 21, 2007 - Big Brother CD and DVD "Hold Me"

November 30, 2007 - ABC fundraiser with Diana Ross

So the other night I do this gig for West Coast Music at the Beverly Hilton. It was put on by ABC and was a fundraiser for breast and prostate cancer. The Band leader was Mike Mennell who plays bass for Tom Jones and is a very cool guy. Dave Karasony was on drums-the last time I had seen Dave was when I met him 7 years ago when he was playing for Pat Benatar and we opened for them on the tour! So it was cool to actually play with him! I noticed another bandstand on the other side of the ballroom from where we were playing. It turns out Diana Ross is the featured entertainment for the evening! What's even stranger is thats the 2nd time this year I've seen Diana, the 1st was back in the spring at one of the American Idol shows at CBS studios... Wow, maybe I should try out for her band or something!

November 04, 2007 - Getting settled in down in LA

Other than a bitchin' drive, the big move from Seattle to LA went rather well. It's always a good idea to plan for a little extra time when you're driving a 22' rig and towing your car behind.

My friend Jim followed behind me in my pickup and we happened to leave the day of the windstorm (perfect). If it wasn't windy it was rainy and dark, which makes it fun to try and pass semis up a hill! Anyway, everything was better once we got to sunny So Cal (it feels like an endless summer) and left the crappy weather behind.

My house in the Glendale/Eagle Rock area is working out great (believe it or not, I'm still watering the lawn for those of you in Seattle) and I'm still getting settled and getting to know the area. I'm meeting and hanging with some great people and the gigs have been a lot of fun. I'm definitely looking forward to meeting and working with more wonderful musicians here, as well as checking out the various studios in the area!
